My consultations are based on time, not by the room. The clock starts when I arrive, not when I start driving from my office to your house.

The cost of a paint color consultation is a drop in the bucket, compared to the cost of useless samples. Paint and labor for a color that turns out wrong runs into the thousands. It's a small price to pay for being able to get what you want the first time, without the frustration.

Interior designer or color consultant? Know who you need.

A designer does a great deal: remodeling plans, furniture and fabric sourcing, managing the trades. If that is genuinely the help you're after, then a designer is right for you.

Frequently asked questions

Is a paint color consultant worth it?
Absolutely. A repaint (paint & labor for a color job gone wrong) can be costly. It starts when you spend a small fortune buying color samples that don't work. If you end up choosing wrong, you either live with it, or you pay for a 2nd round of paint & labor to fix it. Either way it's expensive & frustrating. One consultation with The Colour Chameleon ends with a cohesive color scheme you can see in your space, that you approve. It includes swatches you keep, sampling tips, paint instructions, and easy access to me by text or phone for follow up if needed.
Do you only consult on paint color?
No, I can assist with color advice for cabinetry, tiles & countertops in bathrooms & kitchens, and flooring. Outside I can assist with colors for decks, stone facades, replacement gutters & windows, and even roof shingles. Simply have the samples present when I arrive. The best part is by having a color expert help in those choices, you'll know that what we choose works with your paint colors.
Shouldn't I be able to figure this out with today's technology?
Not necessarily. Devices & AI can't replicate the nuance of your home's lighting or overcome a screen's brightness which makes colors look warmer or duller than reality. And outside the sun brightens colors far more than inside, making it even harder. So having an expert with a full mobile kit of colors at her disposal takes the guesswork out and replaces your doubt with confidence.
The painters start next week. Is it too late to book?
Not at all, I try to accommodate all requests based on weather and availability. I also offer weekend appointments with advance notice. Keep in mind sun, cloud cover, and time of day affect how colors look both inside & out. You need time to sample the colors we choose, and at least a full day & night to observe them in morning & afternoon sun, dusk, and evening lighting. So waiting til' the 11th hour isn't advised. Book 1-2 weeks in advance for best availability.
What if my HOA or historic district has to approve the colors?
Common in the northern suburbs, I am experienced developing palettes that meet HOA criteria. That means I may suggest a color plus a backup in case your preferred choice could meet with resistance in approval. If there's a problem, I stay involved until we get the best look for the house approved.
Is a deposit required to schedule?
No. Full payment is due at the conclusion of your consultation.
What paint brands do you use?
I use Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore colors, two of the most trusted paint brands.
